LIFEGUARDING
Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. We offer courses tailored to waterparks and waterfronts. Also available in online/onsite blended learning format.

NOTE: Shallow Water Lifeguarding Couse is designed to guard at pools that are 5ft deep. You MAY NOT work at a deeper pool with this certification
Prerequisites:

Must be 15 years or older on or before the final session of this course. Proof of age is required. It must be in the form of a Learner's Permit, Drivers License, Military ID or a Birth Certificate. Bring ID with you to the pre-course or first class.

Swim 300 yards continuously demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing (swimming with face in-water required). Students may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both but swimming on the back or side is not allowed. Swim goggles MAY be used.

Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs. Students should place their hands under the armpits.

Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are NOT allowed.

Surface dive, feet-first or head-first, to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object.

Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point with both hands holding the object and keeping the face at or near the surface so they are able to get a breath. Students should not swim the distance under water.

Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.

With an emphasis on hands-on learning, our First Aid/CPR/AED courses give you the skills to save a life. All course options align with OSHA’s Best Practices for Workplace First Aid Training Programs and are available in classroom and blended learning formats. Certification is issued upon successful completion. Free online refreshers are available with all course options.
Course length: From 2 hours to 5 hours, depending on course option
2 year certification
Course options:

First Aid: Learn how to respond to common first aid emergencies, including burns; cuts; head, neck and back injuries and more.
**Pediatric option available.

**Adult and pediatric options available. CPR/AED Learn how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in adults, including the use of automated external defibrillators (AED).

Review/Renew your First Aid/CPR/AED certification in an abbreviated class session. Current certification is required.

Challenge Prepare on you own and demonstrate skill competency in front of a Red Cross instructor. Current certification is not required.
